An afternoon with
Peter Schroff.
Few figures in the surfing world embody genuine eccentricity, artistry, and complexity quite like Peter Schroff. With a profound influence extending nearly four decades, Schroff's impact reaches beyond surf and skate culture, shaping the realms of street art and contemporary design, music, and fashion. Often paralleled with Shawn Stussy, Schroff stands out as an avant-garde champion, drawing inspiration from performance art and non-conformist fashion. A pivotal figure in the Newport ECHO beach movement of the 80s, Schroff's distinctive style, characterized by neon graphics and progressive surfboard designs, revolutionized the surfing and fashion landscape of the 80s and 90s. After a transformative pilgrimage from Newport to Venice Beach, where he lived for three decades, Schroff now resides in San Pedro, crafting a uniquely designed, hand-built haven on the hill. Fortunate to receive an invitation, the opportunity to explore Schroff's home was eagerly embraced.
